what we do

I’ve worked in the music industry on and off since I was 16 (which was 40 years ago). In that time, I’ve seen some massive changes. Formats have come and gone (and come back). Entire genres have been invented. But now, for the first time, it feels like something has properly broken. So… where did the wheels actually fall off?

A musician messaged me recently and said I was wasting my time making music videos. Apparently her manager told her not to bother because “no one watches them anymore.” Which is always a fun thing to hear when a big part of your job is… making music videos. Now, before you think I told her the manager was clueless, I didn’t. Because here’s the thing. He’s kind of right. And also completely wrong.
